Tom Eischen is Director General of the General Directorate for energy and Government Commissioner for Energy of the Ministry of the Economy of the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg. He is caring about energy policy issues including the sectors electricity, natural gas, oil products, renewable energy and energy efficiency.
He received his graduate engineer at the University of Kassel (Germany) and specialized in the « Energy Technologies » section. He holds also a complementary Certificate in economic sciences from the same university. Before his studies in energy and economics, he was awarded the degree of « Technical Engineer in Applied Informatics », after having accomplished the respective studies on the Higher Institute of Technology of Luxembourg.
Before taking his responsibilities in the Ministry of the Economy, he worked in 1996 as a project engineer at Luxenergie s.a., an energy contracting company active in the field of cogeneration and renewable heat and electricity. From 1997 to 2004, he was responsible for the energy department of the City of Luxembourg.
